Our Common Agreement as a Core
A core is a publicly invisible, but privately identifiable, band of brother and sisters who seek to follow Jesus of Nazareth as described throughout the Scriptures. Members of a core commit to the following precepts:
- Love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
- Love others (as we love ourselves), beginning with our closest relationships.
Jesus — Matthew 22:37-40
To carry out those two precepts, a core will follow most of these actions:
- Meet together regularly in fellowship around Jesus.
- Encourage one another to stay focused on Jesus- just Him.
- Pray together and seek to know what is on Jesus' heart.
- Study the Scriptures, meditate on them, discuss them, and apply them to our lives.
- The spirit of our fellowship will include sharing, confession, and repentance.
- Be involved in each other's lives, including struggles, joys, and decisions.
- Openly and intentionally embrace people from all backgrounds and traditions.
- Pray for our geographical area and for Jesus' laborers in all arenas.
- Seek others to "be with" and nurture as they grow in relationship with Jesus.
- Encourage one another in the principles and characteristics of Jesus.
With each other:
- We will encourage and nurture one another in the most important relationships and responsibilities.
- We will stimulate and encourage one another to good and loving actions.
- We will share our thoughts, fears, dreams, and struggles.
- We will speak the truth to one another honestly and openly and with a loving spirit.
- We will have times to play together and enjoy our friendships and fellowship.
